Germany opposed the severing of economic ties between the EU and Russia

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that the European Union could not be interested in destroying economic relations with Russia.

Maas said this during a press conference with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau.

“I believe that for us in Europe there would be a difficult situation if economic relations with Russia were impossible,” – quoted by TASS Maas.

He believes that such a step could lead to the fact that “Russia and China will become closer and closer.” Maas added that this cannot be in the interests of the EU.

Earlier, the foreign ministers of Ukraine and France discussed the EU’s dialogue with Russia.
