The maneuvering of the Dutch frigate Evertsen in the Black Sea was a deliberate provocation, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
“Considering that the incident with Evertsen took place the day after the incident with the British destroyer Defender, it is generally difficult to deny yourself the pleasure of emphasizing that the Dutch side acted in a coordinated manner both through NATO and directly in contact with British partners. that the dangerous maneuvering of the Dutch frigate was also a deliberate provocation”, – Zakharova said at the briefing.
The events with the Dutch ship took place a day after the incident with the British destroyer. On June 23, the Defender crossed the Russian border near Cape Fiolent (Crimea). The Russian border ship, after repeated warnings, fired warning shots, and the Su-24M fired warning bombings along the path of the destroyer. The British Department of Defense and the Government Office maintain that the destroyer was not fired upon and was not in Russian territorial waters.
Also, the British Ministry of Defense said that Russia was conducting firing practice in the Black Sea and had warned the “maritime community” in advance about its actions. However, a journalist on board the British vessel confirmed that the ship deliberately entered Russian territorial waters.
