German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas will discuss relations with Russia and the situation in Belarus during talks with his Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau in Warsaw, DW reports.
The meeting of the foreign ministers of Germany and Poland will take place on July 1 in Warsaw. A press conference following the meeting is expected at 14:20 local time (15:20 Moscow time). In the afternoon, a discussion is planned with representatives of the Belarusian civil society living in Poland.
The publication notes that relations between Berlin and Warsaw have worsened against the background of the completion of the construction of the Russian gas pipeline “Nord Stream-2”, which will connect Germany and Russia.
“Without a doubt, relations between Russia and the EU are now quite tense […] Our goal is to build pragmatic relations with Russia where possible,” Maas said in an interview with the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita.
