On new methods of fighting “internal terrorism”

On June 15, 2021, US Attorney General Merrick Garland presented a national strategy to counter this phenomenon, which is now called “domestic terrorism.” The strategy was prepared by the National Security Council. The 32-page document signed by President Biden is preceded by a preamble, which says the new strategy was driven by mass shootings and attacks on immigrants, blacks and Hispanics.

It is indicated that domestic terrorism (Domestic Terrorism) originates in the times of the Ku Klux Klan, and reached its apogee on January 6, 2021, during the storming of the Capitol. Among the “domestic terrorist” inspiring ideologies, the most enduring is “white supremacy”.

Another threat comes from anti-government extremists. Their ideologies “can evolve and overlap” and in some cases “merge with conspiracy theories and other forms of disinformation.”

At the same time, there is not a word about radical Islamists in the new American strategy of combating “internal terrorism”, as if the “revolutionary jihad” disappeared from the face of the earth, and the “Nation of Islam” by Louis Farrakhan was self-destructed.

It is proposed to counteract internal terrorists by collecting information about them, preventing the recruitment of American citizens into their ranks, and a set of measures to eradicate “racism and fanaticism.”

Domestic Violent Extremists (DVEs) are suggested to be particularly dangerous: DVEs’ persistent motives for prejudice against minorities and their perceived abuse of power by the government will almost certainly continue to stimulate the radicalization of DVEs and their mobilization for violence. Sinister DVEs are spreading “conspiracy theories”: talking about last year’s election fraud, endorsing the capture of the Capitol, spreading misinformation about COVID-19, inciting people to violent action.

According to this scheme, 32 percent of Americans are classified as “domestic violent extremists” who, according to a poll conducted by the University of Monmouth, believe that Biden’s victory was made possible by widespread voter fraud.
Until recently, supporters of the version about the laboratory origin of COVID-19 could be attributed to the “internal violent extremists”, but now, when such a version has become the mainstream in the United States, those who believe that the coronavirus was “blown by the wind” will have to be repressed.

With the aim of completely suppressing DVEs, Attorney General Garland intends to conduct briefing for “critical partners” of the federal government, including “states, counties, tribal and territorial authorities, foreign allies and partners, civil society, the technology sector, academia and many others.” Trained in recognizing domestic terrorists, “Critical Partners” will be required to inform the authorities of threats from DVEs.

The document, presented by the Attorney General and signed by the President of the United States, provides for the purge of civil servants, according to the government portal Government Executive. The government takes special control over the elimination of internal threats in the armed forces and law enforcement agencies.

The State Department has allocated more than $ 100 million to the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to hire lawyers and special agents to fight internal terrorism. The Department of Homeland Security plans to allocate $77 million to state, district and tribal leaders “to root out domestic extremism through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Security Grant Program.” The Pentagon is developing a training methodology for military personnel to prevent their recruitment by domestic terrorists. The FBI Agents’ Association called on the administration to “make domestic terrorism a crime accompanied with a specific penalty.”

At a White House briefing on the strategy of countering domestic terrorism, it was announced the creation of special Internet resources for “conscientious Americans” in the framework of the program “If you see something, say something”. Developed by the Department of Homeland Security, the program encourages denunciation of “family members, friends, and coworkers.”

Republican media outlets are already sounding the alarm about what is happening to American democracy.

Revolver conducted an investigation indicating that the FBI, DOJ and Pentagon, through their agents embedded in the Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, Three Percenters, were aware of the impending assault on the Capitol on January 6 and, with a high probability, planned and coordinated actions protesters.

John Whitehead, executive director of the Rutherford Institute (Charlottesville, Virginia), which deals with the protection of civil liberties and human rights, published the report The FBI’s Mafia-Style Justice: To Fight Crime, the FBI Sponsors 15 Crimes a Day, systematizing numerous violations of American laws by the FBI. “Sometimes it seems like the FBI is running its own crime syndicate, dominated by the mafia and mafia-style justice,” writes John Whitehead. As an example, he cites the USA Today investigation, according to which FBI agents allowed a group of criminals to commit up to 15 crimes a day (5600 a year) in order to recruit them for organizing provocations.

“For those familiar with COINTELPRO, an FBI program designed to ‘disrupt, disorient, discredit and neutralize’ groups and individuals deemed politically objectionable by the government, it should come as no surprise that the agency has mastered the art of misinforming the government”, – Whitehead said.

The FBI is particularly criticized for “luring people at risk into fake terrorist conspiracies, helping them organizationally, with money, weapons and motivation to carry out provocations, and then they are imprisoned for a so-called terrorist conspiracy; this is called preemptive pursuit”.

The New York Times Magazine writes: “The government’s approach to countering terrorism undermines the constitutional protection of all, blurs the lines between words and actions, and expands the range of individuals classified as a threat.” The 2022 midterm elections could be a critical milestone for the final transformation of the United States from a democracy to a one-party dictatorship.
