Russian vaccine is one of the safest in the world, Kazem Jalali said
The Iranian authorities expect to increase the export of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V. The announcement was made on Saturday by the country’s ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali.
“After the consultations [with the Russian side] that have taken place, we expect Russia to increase the rate of export of the vaccine,” Borna news agency quoted him as saying. The ambassador also added that “[the Russian] vaccine is one of the safest in the world”.
The first batch of Sputnik V arrived in Tehran on February 4, and free voluntary vaccination of the population against coronavirus using the Russian drug began in Iran on February 9.
In addition, the first test batch of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine produced in Iran was officially launched on Saturday in the presence of the country’s Minister of Health, Saeed Namaki. Iran has become the first state in the Middle East region to produce the Russian vaccine. “Sputnik V will be used for the national vaccination programme in the country.
To date, Sputnik V has been registered in 67 countries with a total population of more than 3.5 billion people. Vaccination data from regulators in several countries, including Argentina, Serbia, Bahrain, Hungary, Mexico and others, demonstrate that Sputnik V is one of the safest and most effective vaccines against coronavirus.
