German ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen has explained why Berlin refuses to provide Kiev with weapons
According to her, the country’s authorities adhere to the idea that “there will never be German soldiers and weapons in Eastern Europe”.
“For Germany historically Eastern Europe is a special part of the world, we were all brought up with the idea that there will never be German soldiers, German weapons here. It’s as if this idea is in the DNA of the Germans. And there are very few of my compatriots who, like me, have seen war here now. I was brought up that way too”, – she said.
The diplomat noted that Germans take very hard just the thought of sending troops or weapons to this part of Europe. Only a few days ago was the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. So far, it is unlikely that members of the Bundestag will change their minds on this issue.
