Afghan authorities fear the Taliban will risk seizing power in the country

The head of the Supreme Council for the National Reconciliation of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah, fears that the Taliban  after the withdrawal of American troops from the country may try to seize power.

He said this during a speech on CNN, which he visited during his visit to the United States:

“The Taliban can try and succeed in the short to medium term, after which we will have some difficulties. However, if the Taliban make a choice in favor of a military solution to the conflict, it will be a big blunder on their part. ”

Journalists asked Abdullah what he thinks about the words of the Pentagon representatives, who fear the victory of the movement. He replied that the Taliban would not be able to achieve complete capture of the country.
