UN special envoy for Syria is going to visit Moscow soon

Geir Pedersen called for a new international dialogue to resolve the situation in Syria

UN special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen expects to hold consultations in Moscow soon.

“I look forward to coming to Moscow [for consultations] soon”, – he said Friday in his address to the UN Security Council.

Pedersen called for a new international dialogue to resolve the situation in Syria.

“I believe we need a new constructive international dialogue on Syria to discuss concrete steps”, –  he said.

In addition to consultations in Moscow, Pedersen also intends to visit Rome, where he will take part in a ministerial meeting between Italy and the United States, and will also come to Nur-Sultan in early July, where he will hold consultations with Turkey and Iran during a meeting in the Astana format.
