The head of the board of Naftogaz refused to discuss the issue of compensation
According to Interfax-Ukraine, Yuriy Vitrenko said that they want to put Ukraine before the fact that Russia’s Nord Stream-2 pipeline is already a resolved issue and it is necessary to discuss compensation options.
“We are not discussing plan B. We must understand that our interests are broader, and this understanding certainly includes security issues and economic aspects. For example, our interests are the accession to NATO and the long-term income from transit, not only from Gazprom, but also from other companies. So we have a broad context that we are looking at. We can consider Nord Stream-2 in the same context. But we are not discussing this plan: plan A – stop the construction of the pipeline and plan B – let it be built and Ukraine will simply be compensated. And we think this is an incorrect formulation of the issue. That is manipulation and wrong formulation of the issue”, – Vitrenko said.
