The incident with the destroyer has shown that NATO can go too far

Alliance’s actions in the military sphere are now irrelevant to real security needs, deputy foreign minister said

The incident with the British destroyer Defender in the Black Sea has demonstrated that NATO colleagues may go very far in their “anti-Russian rage.” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told TASS on Thursday.

“Yesterday’s provocation by Britain in our territorial waters showed that our NATO colleagues in their anti-Russian rage can go very far”, –  he said.

According to the diplomat, NATO’s actions in the military sphere are now irrelevant to the real security needs.

“Because all the threats are in the south. This is an attempt to impose on us an agenda that should not be there. And the result is a political demonisation of Russia. From a military point of view, this cannot but worry us. As any responsible state, we have to take into account any development options”, –  Grushko stressed.

“Therefore, Russia will take all necessary military-technical measures to ensure that our security interests are reliably secured”, –  the Russian deputy foreign minister said.
