Serbia says it will not impose anti-Russian sanctions

This will not happen despite pressure from outside, said the speaker of the Serbian parliament Ivica Dacic

Serbia has not imposed and will not impose sanctions against Russia, despite pressure from the outside. Ivica Dacic, speaker of the National Assembly (parliament) of the republic, said this on Thursday.

“Serbia has not thought for a minute about imposing sanctions against Russia, despite pressure from outside, and it does not intend to do so in the future”, –  Dacic stressed.

Dacic noted the successful cooperation between Serbia and Russia in the production of coronavirus vaccines.

“The fact that [Russian and Serbian] presidents Vladimir] Putin and [Aleksandar] Vucic were personally involved in the launch of this project says more than anything else about the importance we attach to it”, –  the speaker said. – “We entrusted our lives to the Russian vaccine. I was the first to be vaccinated with it in Serbia”, – reminded Dacic.

The conference of the Valdai International Discussion Club takes place at the Russian House in Belgrade. Its participants will discuss the prospects for cooperation between Russia and Serbia in the economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres. Apart from Dacic, the event is attended by head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, head of the Interior Ministry of the Republic Aleksandar Vulin, co-chairman of the intergovernmental committee Nenad Popovic, Serbian and Russian politicians and experts.
