Kremlin assesses possibility of adding Britain to list of unfriendly countries

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he knew nothing about the possibility of Britain being added to the list of countries unfriendly to Russia after the incident with the destroyer in the Black Sea

On Wednesday, the Russian Defence Ministry said that the British destroyer Defender crossed the Russian border and entered three kilometres into Russian waters near Cape Fiolent in Crimea. A Russian border patrol ship then fired a warning shot and an Su-24M aircraft carried out a “warning bombardment” on the course of the destroyer.

“I am not aware of this”, –  Peskov said in response to a related question from journalists.

The Russian Cabinet earlier approved a list of unfriendly states, with two countries on the list – the US and the Czech Republic. After the incident in the Black Sea, the deputy prime minister of the Crimean government and Crimea’s permanent representative to the Russian president, Georgiy Muradov, suggested that the UK also be included in the list of unfriendly countries to Russia.
