Polish vandals desecrated a monument to prisoners of war on the border with Russia

In Poland, a memorial stone erected in honor of the Stalag I-B prisoners of war who died in the German fascist prisoner of war camp was desecrated.

The incident took place in the town of Olsztynek. It is located just 85 kilometers from the border with Russia in the Kaliningrad region. The monument was erected not only in memory of the Russians, but also the French, Belgians and Poles.

A photo of the stone stained with paint was published on social networks. Their Polish users are outraged by the way the vandals treated their compatriots.
The monument stands on the site of a camp in which prisoners were kept from 1939 to 1945. The words are engraved on it:

“To the victims of Hitlerism from the youth of Olsztynek. There was a prisoner of war camp in this place in 1939-1945”.

650 thousand people passed through Stalag I-B during the war years. The mass grave, in which about 55 thousand prisoners who did not survive the imprisonment, are buried, is located on the outskirts of Olsztynek. Most of the dead, 50 thousand, are citizens of the Soviet Union.
