Ex-president of Armenia: new early elections cannot be avoided

Former Armenian President Robert Kocharian believes that the actions of the current authorities will inevitably lead to new early elections.

The head of the “Armenia” electoral bloc shared this opinion at his press conference.

“The authorities received a very high credit of confidence in 2018 and could lead the country in a different direction. But they took the path of (political) vendetta, settling personal scores. It ended with the loss of Karabakh, an economic and internal political crisis”, – Kocharian said.

He noted that the strategy chosen by the acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his associates say that they have not drawn any conclusions from the experience of their predecessors.

Until the country emerges from the internal political crisis, the next elections are inevitable. This circle can only be broken if the government changes its approach to governing the country.

The Central Election Commission of Armenia announced the results of the parliamentary elections. Pashinyan’s party won almost 54% of the vote, while Kocharian’s political force came in second with a result of just over 21%.
