Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, commenting on the new sanctions against Minsk, spoke out against the interference of external forces in the internal affairs of Belarus.
So, the European Union approved the expansion of the list of sanctions against Belarus, added 86 persons involved in it: 78 individuals and 8 organizations. EU head of diplomacy Josep Borrell did not rule out the preparation of another package of sanctions. Zhao Lijian said that the Chinese side has consistently opposed the use or threat of unilateral sanctions in international relations.
“We oppose the interference of external forces in the internal affairs of Belarus. We respect the path of development chosen by Belarus. The Chinese side is confident that the Belarusian people will be able to maintain political stability by their own efforts. We hope that the international community will play a constructive role in this”.
