German netizens evaluated the video message from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, timed to coincide with the start of World War II.
Merkel in her speech called this date a reason for the shame of the Germans, Germany, according to her, recognizes its responsibility for the crimes of the Nazi regime, this includes keeping the memory of what happened. At the same time, she noted that Berlin still needs a dialogue with Russia, there is a close historical, social and economic connection between the countries.
German users responded to the Chancellor’s appeal in the comments below a video posted on the German government’s official Facebook account.
