US presidential national security adviser Jake Sullivan has said the White House will continue to impose sanctions against Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline
“The question is whether we will directly target, using sanctions powers, our European partners, allies and friends. The US President has said: I am not prepared to do that, but I am prepared to impose sanctions every 90 days against Russian entities involved in the construction of Nord Stream 2. He has and will continue to do so”, – Sullivan said on CNN.
Earlier, Washington said it was extremely difficult to prevent the completion of Nord Stream 2, as it is almost complete. In May, the US lifted sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG, explaining it as contrary to national interests, but imposed restrictions on Russian companies involved in the construction of the pipeline.
