Expert: NATO summit was a humiliation for the Kiev authorities

The Ukrainian leadership failed to achieve any of its goals declared before the NATO summit, Nosovich writes in an article for the Rubaltic.ru portal

According to RIA FAN, analyst Aleksandr Nosovich is convinced that the summit of the Alliance leaders in the Belgian capital was a great disappointment and a formidable humiliation for the Kiev authorities.

“First, Kiev’s representatives were not invited to Brussels even as special guests or observers, which the Ukrainian authorities openly and insistently asked for. Secondly, the idea of Ukraine receiving compensation from the launch of the Nord Stream 2 Baltic gas pipeline was not even discussed by NATO member states. That is, it was not taken seriously”, –  Nosovych said.

In addition, the Alliance’s countries took with full attention the warning of Russian President Vladimir Putin that Ukraine’s membership in NATO was unacceptable for the national security interests of the Russian Federation.

“All the attempts of Zelensky’s team to sidestep the Normandy format, the Minsk agreements and other established formats for resolving the Ukrainian crisis have gone to waste”, –  the analyst calls the third sign of the collapse of Kiev’s expectations from the meeting of NATO leaders.

Kiev has not secured any specifics from the leadership of the military-political bloc regarding the timing of integration into the Alliance and the launch of mechanisms for such integration, Nosovych concludes.
