Statements by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on the conditions for launching Nord Stream-2 indicate a complete misunderstanding of the realities, which ultimately leads to a lack of specific benefits for Ukraine due to rash statements, the head of the Crimean Public Chamber, political scientist Alexander Formanchuk told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the condition for the launch of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline should be “the de-occupation of Ukrainian territories and the energy security of Ukraine.” On his Twitter page, he noted that he raised this issue at the talks in Berlin.
“It is a pity that there is a person in the post of Ukrainian Foreign Minister who does not understand the realities in the world and Europe, including around Nord Stream-2. Even if (US President Joe) Biden removed the issue of sanctions, realizing that he does not want to aggravate relations with Germany, then Ukraine needs to take a sober look at the situation and strive to reduce the losses that they are already incurring as a result of the insane policy towards Russia”, – Formanchuk said.
According to the political scientist, the authorities in Kiev by their actions only worsen their own economic situation, receiving less benefit as a result of their rash actions and statements.
“They themselves are being punished with reckless statements, especially as foreign minister”, – Formanchuk said.
