The heads of state and government of the 30 NATO countries will discuss the development of a new basic document, the Strategic Concept, at the 32nd summit of the alliance to be held in Brussels
According to the agency, the NATO 2030 analytical report, which will form the basis of the new Strategic Concept, has designated Beijing as a “systemic adversary” to Western society.
“To meet the challenge of countering one of the world’s leading military powers – Russia – and one of the largest economies – China – the alliance leaders will declare the need to further increase military spending despite the pandemic and the desire to maintain or restore its military and technical superiority, and the need to strengthen the ideological unity between NATO countries and their partners”, – TASS writes.
It is also noted that Ukraine and Georgia will be mentioned by the North Atlantic Alliance only as “valuable partners” and the issue of their possible membership in NATO will not be discussed in any way.
Recall that the summit will be the first since Joe Biden took office as US president. The meeting will be the shortest in the last 20 years – it will consist of one working session with a total duration of about 2.5 hours.
