NATO and the G7 need better coordination on Russia – US President Joe Biden

The US leader added that the understanding that Russia was behaving “not in line with our expectations” was growing

According to him, the importance of NATO to US interests cannot be overestimated and Europe must know that “the US is with you”.

The President also stated that the US considers Article 5 of NATO’s collective defence charter to be a sacrosanct obligation.

Article 5 envisages a system of collective defence: the parties to the treaty agree that an armed attack against one or more member states will be regarded as an attack against all of them, and if that happens, each country will exercise the right of individual or collective defence.
