On Monday morning, before the start of the summit, the British Prime Minister spoke to the President of Ukraine by phone.
RIA Novosti reports that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has promised to discuss the situation in Ukraine at the NATO summit in Brussels and said the alliance intends to continue supporting the Ukrainian state’s defense capabilities, an official spokesman for the British prime minister’s office said. Johnson spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky by phone on Monday morning, ahead of the summit.
“They discussed Russia’s destabilising actions on the Ukrainian border. The Prime Minister reiterated Britain’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity. The prime minister said he would state his concerns about the situation at today’s NATO summit and noted that the G7 countries had shown unity in support of Ukraine during last weekend’s discussions”, – an official spokesman told reporters.
He said Johnson stressed that NATO members were responsible for supporting Ukraine’s defence capabilities and pointed to the importance of the mission to train the Ukrainian military by the alliance’s instructors.
