Expert assesses venue of Russia-US summit

Arnie Kislenko of the Department of History, an expert in international relations at Ryerson University in Toronto, has assessed the venue of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden in a commentary to RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said that Park and Villa La Grange in Geneva had been chosen to host the meeting of the Russian and US presidents. The U.S.-Russia summit will take place on Wednesday, June 16.

“It is a beautiful place with quite an interesting history and of course it is in the most famous neutral country! I don’t know about any aspect of the history of the place that would matter to any of the leaders or their countries, but the relative isolation and luxury of the place were no doubt important factors”, –  commented Kislenko.
