Russian ships began exercises in the Pacific Ocean

Rear Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, commander of the Primorskaya Flotilla of dissimilar forces of the Pacific Fleet (TOF), said that Russian ships have completed their deployment as part of the exercise, TASS reported

“Pacific Fleet ships and vessels have completed their deployment in the area of the operational exercise and today began carrying out activities under the operational exercise program as part of the Pacific Fleet’s Far Sea Zone grouping”, –  Kabantsov said.

Kabantsov noted that the basis of the grouping is formed by ships of the Maritime Flotilla of diverse forces and vessels of the auxiliary fleet of the Pacific Fleet. Ship tactical groups have travelled 4,000 km from their basing and duty areas.

As part of the exercise, issues relating to the management of a diverse group of forces when operating at a considerable distance from their basing points will be practised. The Russian Defence Ministry noted that the organisation of interaction between dissimilar naval forces is carried out directly from the control ship Marshal Krylov.

“Up to 20 surface warships, submarines and support vessels are involved in the exercise in the far maritime zone. About 20 aircraft are also involved. The operational exercise of dissimilar forces of the fleet, in accordance with the training plan, is taking place in the central Pacific Ocean under the general direction of the commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sergei Avakyants”, – the defence ministry added.
