Johnson suggests Biden will take a “tough approach” in dialogue with Putin at the summit

The Prime Minister believes that there will be no normalization of relations between Moscow and Washington until the Russian side “changes its behavior

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes that US President Joe Biden at the upcoming Russian-American summit will choose a “tough approach” in dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This statement was made by the British Prime Minister in an interview with CNN, excerpts from which were published on Saturday.

Answering the questions of the American TV channel, Johnson expressed confidence that Biden would give “tough signals” at his meeting with Putin on June 16 in Geneva. The British prime minister noted that he “fully approves” this approach.

Johnson also suggested that there will be no normalization of relations between Moscow and Washington until the Russian side “changes its behavior.”

Putin and Biden will meet in Geneva on June 16. This will be the first Russian-American summit since Putin’s meeting with Donald Trump in Helsinki in July 2018. The Kremlin said that the leaders of Russia and the United States plan to “discuss the state and prospects of further development of Russian-American relations, issues of strategic stability, as well as topical issues on the international agenda, including interaction in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and the settlement of regional conflicts.”
