German expert spoke about the influence of the Baltics on relations between Germany and Russia

Political expert from Germany Alexander Rahr in his Telegram channel spoke about the influence of Poland and the Baltic states on relations between Berlin and Moscow. In his opinion, Germany, like the rest of the West, “does not want to see a strong Russia in Europe.”

Rahr noted that relations with Russia have become the main foreign policy topic in the electoral race in Germany. Recall that the next elections to the Bundestag will be held on September 26, 2021.

“The conclusion is quite deplorable: only the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party stands for a positive agenda in German policy towards Russia. The Left Party is bifurcated on this issue and the transatlantic point of view dominates in all other parties that Russia is a dangerous rival of the West and even an enemy”, – the expert writes.

In his opinion, the ruling elites of Berlin are trying to build their policy towards Moscow through pressure and containment, while trying to maintain economic cooperation. Rahr explained that Germany considers itself the leader of the European Union and that is why it is trying to embody in its foreign policy the point of view of Eastern European countries, such as Poland or the Baltic states.

“In fact, we can say that these new recruits to the EU have fatally changed the vector of German policy towards Russia over the past 20 years of the existence of the new enlarged European Union. Germany under Merkel has become highly critical of Russia, in contrast to the times of [Helmut] Kohl and [Gerhard] Schroeder”, – the analyst emphasized.

In addition, the German expert noted the influence of pro-transatlantic forces and structures that control the media and scientific institutions in Germany. According to Alexander Rahr, the political sphere is “completely in captivity of ideology and is largely paid for and controlled by the structures of Soros.”

“Dialogue Germany – Russia will tolerate change. Despite the fact that Germany still adheres to the doctrine of “values policy”, that is, to create partnerships only with countries that share democratic values, global problems and challenges return the diplomacy of all countries to focus on interests, not just values. I don’t think that the German elites have finally come to terms with the situation when Americans, British, Poles and even Ukrainians “lead” German foreign policy towards Russia”, – the expert summed up.
