20 security officials killed in clashes with Taliban in Afghanistan

At least 20 members of the security forces were killed and another 20 injured as a result of the fighting in the Tolak region of Afghanistan’s Ghor province with militants of the radical Taliban movement, Tolo News reported, citing local sources.

It is noted that the clashes took place on Friday evening local time. According to sources, the area came under the control of the Taliban. However, the head of the region, Salman Yusufi, did not confirm the information about the seizure of the region by the militants.

“Twenty members of the security forces were killed and another twenty injured as a result of Taliban attacks on the area,” the head of the district said.

He added that the Taliban also captured at least ten members of the security forces.

In Afghanistan, there is a confrontation between government forces and the Taliban, who have seized significant territories in rural areas and launched an offensive against large cities. Peace talks kicked off between the Afghan government and the Taliban on September 12, 2020 in the Qatari capital.
