The media found out who prepared Biden for a meeting with Putin

The US President Joe Biden for a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Geneva was prepared by CIA Director William Burns, who advocates a return to containment of Moscow, as in the Cold War, according to Time.

Most of Biden’s preparations took place during a daily intelligence briefing, according to the publication, citing three officials from the US administration. The leading figure on them was the CIA director, former US ambassador to Moscow, Burns.

“Wherever (Putin) goes, he must meet resistance,” the newspaper quoted the official as saying.

The publication also claims that the US goal is for Putin to leave the meeting with the words: “The Americans are plotting something against us.”

At the same time, as the newspaper notes, although Biden plans to “speak hard” in Geneva, his goal is to ease tensions and provide predictability for both sides.

Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, said that Russia’s relations with the United States and European countries have dramatically deteriorated in recent years, but it is necessary to reach normal, stable principles of cooperation.
