At the Summit, NATO leaders will formally ask the Secretary General to lead the process of developing NATO’s next Strategic Concept.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, the upcoming NATO summit in Brussels on June 14 will mark the beginning of work on a new strategic concept for the alliance.
“NATO’s current Strategic Concept was agreed in 2010 and has served NATO well. However, the world has changed dramatically over the past decade. That is why the time has come to adapt NATO to an increasingly competitive and unpredictable security environment”, – the summit reads.
At the Summit, NATO leaders will formally ask the Secretary General to lead the process of developing NATO’s next Strategic Concept.
“It will take into account NATO’s significant military and political adaptation since 2014 and recognize new realities. The concept will also provide an opportunity to reaffirm adherence to common values and chart a common course for the future”, – the materials read.
