The document also called for a revision of the course towards Russia.
According to TASS, the Bundestag on Thursday by a majority vote rejected the resolution of the Soyuz-90 / Green faction demanding to abandon Nord Stream-2 and reconsider the course towards Russia.
“The proposal was rejected in a direct vote by a majority of the CDU / CSU, Social Democratic Party of Germany, Alternative for Germany and the Left Party”, – according to a statement posted on the parliament’s website.
As noted, the “greens” themselves voted for, while the free democrats abstained. The resolution was titled “Revision of the course in policy towards Russia – to consistently protect human rights, democracy and the European world order.” The document, in particular, says that the German government should “recognize that a new gas pipeline, such as Nord Stream 2, is not needed to supply Europe with energy, but, above all, it is harmful to the climate.” The Greens called on the German authorities to “abandon the project”.
