The Swiss Foreign Ministry also thanked Russia and the United States for the confidence expressed in Switzerland as the host country for the summit.
Earlier, the White House said that Biden would be blunt in his statements during negotiations with Putin.
The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that Putin and Biden plan to talk both face-to-face and with the participation of members of delegations and assistants.
Putin said he expects the meeting with Biden to proceed in a positive manner, but does not expect it to lead to a breakthrough in relations between Moscow and Washington.
