Russian top diplomat says status of Nagorno-Karabakh still needs to be agreed

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that at this stage it is worth focusing on the return of peaceful life to the region.

As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the Primakov Readings forum, the issue of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh must be agreed with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs (Russia, USA, France), but now it is worth focusing not on this, but on returning to the region peaceful life.

“I understand that now many people say that the status of Nagorno-Karabakh remains unresolved. This is to be finally agreed with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, who at this stage, probably, should not stir up the problem of status, but contribute to strengthening confidence-building measures, resolving humanitarian issues, so that  Armenians and Azerbaijanis again begin to live together in security and economic prosperity. And then, I assure you, in a couple or three years, if we establish such a life, all status problems will be solved much easier”, – TASS quoted the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
