The White House announced the cancellation of the decrees of former US President Donald Trump, prohibiting the use of Chinese applications TikTok and WeChat, RIA Novosti reports.
“The following decrees have been repealed: Decree 13942 of August 6, 2020 (“ On the elimination of the threat posed by TikTok … ”); Decree 13943 of August 6, 2020 (“ On the elimination of the threat posed by WeChat”); and Decree 13971 of January 5, 2021 (“On the elimination of the threat posed by applications and other software developed or controlled by Chinese companies”)”, – said the message.
Further, the administration of the incumbent President Joe Biden intends to conduct an audit of applications developed and controlled by “foreign adversaries” that may pose a threat to national security, foreign policy and the US economy.
Donald Trump demanded that TikTok sell the American part of the global network and in August last year signed a decree that limited the completion of a potential deal to 90 days. The term was extended several times, and the American courts more than once blocked the ban on the application.
