Poland tries to negotiate a meeting between Duda and Biden before Russia-US summit

Warsaw is trying to persuade Washington to hold a meeting between Polish President Andrzej Duda and his American counterpart Joe Biden before talks with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, the Rzeczpospolita newspaper reports

The newspaper’s independent sources said that Biden had not warned either Kiev or Warsaw about his plans to lift sanctions against Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Also in Poland there is “cooling and tension” in relations with the United States.

According to the Polish authorities, who fear a meeting between Biden and Putin, the best way to dispel Warsaw’s fears is a separate meeting between Duda and Biden on the occasion of the NATO summit to be held in Brussels on June 14, two days before the White House leader talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
