Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is ready to meet his US counterpart Joe Biden before the Russia-US summit in Geneva on June 16
“I believe that consultations should have been held face to face, because many things cannot be discussed over the phone. I understand that the US President’s earlier plans and busy schedule may not allow this, but it is up to him to choose. As the guarantor of the Ukrainian constitution, I myself am ready to defend Ukraine at any moment and any place on the planet, and I am ready to meet him and discuss all the details”, – Zelensky said in an interview with the Axios portal.
The Ukrainian president stressed that he wanted to meet the White House head before the Russia-US summit in Geneva, where Biden will meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Zelensky also added that representatives of the US administration had not contacted the Ukrainian authorities for consultations on the upcoming US-Russian summit. According to the Ukrainian president, if the USA decides not to confer with Ukraine on this topic, “it would be a big mistake”.
