US State Department to allocate $700,000 to Kiev to fight disinformation

The US State Department will fund a program to “combat disinformation and hostile narratives through social networks and the media” in Ukraine, Gazeta.Ru writes.

“The US Embassy in Kiev is announcing a call for proposals for grants for nongovernmental organizations to combat misinformation and hostile narratives that are spread through social media and the media in Ukraine”, – says a document released by the US Department of State.

The total budget of the grant is 700 thousand dollars: only non-governmental organizations from Ukraine and the United States, as well as other countries, can be involved in its implementation. The project involves coordinating the work of media and activists, conducting trainings for representatives of government agencies.

“Outreach to target Ukrainian audiences to reduce their vulnerability to disinformation, misinformation and hostile narratives”, – is one of the main objectives of the project.
