In the Russian oil and gas industry, environmental regulation is much stricter than in the United States, said Igor Sechin, head of Rosneft.
“Russian environmental regulation in the oil and gas industry is significantly stricter, which predetermines the high quality of Russian projects”, – Sechin said at the “World Energy Transformation” energy panel of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
He noted that in the USA “there are virtually no standards for gas flaring: a shale well with the highest productivity in the first year of operation can receive a permit for free flaring of gas for up to six months”. Whereas in Russia, recycling requirements reach 95%.
