According to the expert on Turkey, political scientist Ivan Starodubtsev, Ankara is making every effort for the status of “special representative” of the United States and NATO in Afghanistan.
The National News reported earlier that the Turkish government had agreed to take responsibility for the Kabul international airport as part of a $ 130 million deal with NATO. Starodubtsev also noted that September 11 is approaching – the extreme US and NATO troops from Afghanistan.
“We can say that Turkey is gradually achieving its goal: the status of the US / NATO “special representative” in the region. Even if Afghanistan is not Turkey’s main point of interest at this stage, it is certainly strategic. Another piece of news, obviously, within the framework of creating a positive agenda for Turkey’s participation in the NATO Summit”, – the political scientist writes in his Telegram channel.
