Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he does not understand why similar situations in Belarus and the United States with the detention of protesters are assessed differently, it is necessary to get rid of double standards.
“In Belarus there are many internal problems, we want to take a neutral position. This is the business of the Belarusian people. But there all this is evaluated from one point of view, and in the States – from another one. Double standards – we need to get rid of this”, – said Putin at the plenary session of the SPIEF.
“They say, for example, in Russia law enforcement officers behave harshly in the process of some street actions, but the fact that in European countries they shoot with rubber bullets, knock out people’s eyes, people die on the street, use water cannons, tear gas – is that normal?” – noted the President of the Russian Federation.
Putin recalled that after the presidential elections in the United States, some people were unhappy and the protesters entered the Congress.
