Russia expects to complete the construction of the second line of the gas pipeline within one and a half to two months.
This was stated by Vladimir Putin at a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Earlier, he announced the completion of the laying of the first thread.
Nord Stream-2 envisages the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany.
The United States is actively opposed by promoting its liquefied gas to Europe. In December 2019, Washington imposed sanctions on companies involved in the project. The laying was resumed a year later.
The head of state stressed that Russia is ready to continue implementing projects like Nord Stream 2 with foreign partners.
Earlier in his speech, the President said that the laying of pipes for the first string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has been successfully completed, work on the second string continues, and Gazprom is ready to fill Nord Stream 2 with gas.
“We are ready to continue implementing similar high-tech projects with our European and other partners, and we hope that the logic of mutual benefit and mutual benefit will inevitably prevail over all sorts of artificial barriers of the current political environment”, – the Russian president said.
