Pentagon spoke about plans to accelerate deployment of hypersonic weapons

The United States is going to accelerate the deployment of hypersonic weapons, said Michael White, responsible for the development of hypersonic weapons at the Pentagon.

“The budget request is a very important statement of the importance of hypersonic weapons. The budget for FY2022 provides for the acquisition of these systems, since these systems are being developed in quantities that go beyond. So we are really accelerating the deployment of this capability”, – the National Defense quotes the words White.

In August 2020, the US Congressional Research Service reported that specialized institutes of the US Armed Forces are working in three areas in the field of hypersonic weapons: non-nuclear rapid strike (Conventional Prompt Strike, a gliding unit and a ballistic missile launched from Virginia-class submarines), long-range hypersonic weapons actions (Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon, the development of the ground forces – a planning unit with a range of about 2200 kilometers) and air-based rapid response weapons (AGM-183 Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon – a warhead capable of speeds up to Mach 20 and a flight range about 925 kilometers).
