In Russia there is a WHO commission to study data on “Sputnik V” before certification

According to Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe, with regard to the certification of Sputnik V, “there are definitely grounds for optimism”.

In an interview with TASS on the sidelines of SPIEF, WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge said that the World Health Organization (WHO) team is now in Russia to study data on the Russian Sputnik V vaccine as part of its certification, and a report will be prepared following the visit.

“From the very beginning, I have been in touch with the Russian authorities, as we are faced with the task of approving the vaccine. Right now, our specialists are in the Russian Federation, their mission here will be completed by June 4. Then a report with recommendations will be prepared, which will be taken into account”, – he said.

Kluge stressed that with regard to the certification of “Sputnik V” “there are definitely grounds for optimism”.

“Both the European Medicines Agency and WHO are studying a vaccine, which in itself is a good sign”, – he added
