US investigates reports of leaks of nuclear weapons in Europe

The US military is investigating reports of possible leaks regarding the location of US nuclear weapons bases in Europe, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby has told reporters

“The US Air Force Department is investigating the suitability of the information transmitted through the training cards. For security reasons, I think you know we’re not discussing past or current security protocols, all US weapons are safe and secure”, –  Kirby said in the text of the speech.

He added that Pentagon policy is “not to confirm or deny the presence or absence of nuclear weapons in any particular location.”

Last week, Bellingcat reported that the US military, tasked with guarding US nuclear weapons in Europe, used a publicly available training card app, thereby revealing the location of these weapons and a host of confidential protocols.
