US Congress continues to fight Nord Stream 2

Republican Fred Keller has drafted his own bill in response to President Joe Biden’s decision to lift some of the sanctions against the Russian pipeline. Without a shadow of a doubt, the document is titled “An Act to protect our well-being by expanding sanctions on Russia, or the Authorization Act, which immediately reinstates sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline”

According to Channel 112 Ukraine, US House of Representatives member, Republican Fred Keller has introduced a bill to his colleagues that would restore sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

“In the wake of the Colonial Pipeline crackdown, the Biden administration is faced with an important decision: either invest in American energy and make it more secure, or continue down a radical path that will force our country to rely on energy from countries that are not looking out for our interests. Unfortunately, the President’s decision to lift sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2″, –  pipeline, while impeding domestic energy production, makes it clear where this administration stands. I am proud to represent the authority bill and prioritize American energy,” is how Assemblyman Fred Keller explained the document of his own authorship.

To recap, last week the US president rejected sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, saying the move would damage relations with Europe. Moreover, Joe Biden was guided by the national security considerations in this decision.
