Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko had made his country a “prison” and should step down
“Closing the borders effectively means that the entire country becomes one big prison for 10 million citizens”, – the minister wrote on Twitter.
According to experts at The Global Times Chinese publication, when a small country like Lithuania behaves aggressively and becomes an instrument of great power rivalry, it is fraught with trouble.
“The geopolitics of the Baltic region are very complex. Many extreme historical memories intersect in this region. And today, instead of trying to dispel old hatreds, Lithuania is constantly launching new ones. Therefore, it will reap what it sows”, – the analysts emphasise.
