Most Germans oppose US sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. This is evidenced by the results of a survey commissioned by the Eastern Committee of the German Economy
According to the poll, 75% of Germans strongly reject additional Washington sanctions against Nord Stream 2 and 17% of respondents are of the opinion that the project should be stopped. At the same time, the construction of the Russian gas pipeline is supported by members of the opposition parties “Green” (69%) and the Free Democratic Party (82%).
Also, almost two-thirds of the inhabitants of Germany (62%) supported the development of relations between the EU and Russia. First of all, we are talking about mutual cooperation in the economic and energy sector.
The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline envisages the construction of two pipelines from the coast of Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea. The United States is actively opposing the completion of the project, as it wants to supply its own liquefied gas to European countries.
