Expert: Germans consider Russia a more reliable partner than the US

Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov has commented on the results of a sociological survey in Western Europe

According to well-known politician and publicist Alexei Pushkov, there is an increasingly noticeable gap between the attitudes towards Russia of Western elites and ordinary citizens of European countries.

“There is a gap between the perception of Russia by the Western liberal elite and its perception by a large part of the population of Western countries. This is particularly noticeable in Italy, Greece, Austria, Slovenia, but the gap can also be seen in France and Germany. The fact that 52 per cent – more than half of Germans – regard Russia as a more reliable energy supplier than the United States (only 32 per cent) only confirms the existence of this gap”, –  says Pushkov.
