North Korea condemns South Korea-US agreement to lift range restrictions on missiles

According to the CTAC news agency, such a move by Seoul “again shows who is the main instigator aggravating the situation on the Korean Peninsula”

According to TASS, an article published Monday by the Korean Central Telegraph Agency (CTAC) said North Korea condemns the agreement reached between Seoul and Washington to cancel an agreement to limit the range of South Korean ballistic missiles to 800 km.

“This is a concentrated expression of the unwavering hostile policy against the DPRK and a living testimony exposing the brazen and duplicitous behaviour”, –  the publication said, – “The US, by persistently calling the measures taken by the DPRK to defend itself a violation of UN resolutions, gives its allies unlimited right to develop missiles. They are consumed by confrontation, despite their talk of dialogue.”

The author also notes that such a move by Seoul “again shows who the main instigator is, exacerbating the situation on the Korean peninsula. It calls attempts to exert pressure on North Korea a “serious mistake” which “could lead to an acute and unstable situation on the Korean Peninsula, which is technically at war.”

At the same time, South Korean experts note that Pyongyang’s reaction has been rather restrained as the criticisms have been voiced on behalf of CTAC and not the government.
