The Georgian opposition has announced a boycott of the parliament after the elections of October 31, 2020, considering the results falsified
“The Georgian Dream (ruling party, opponents of the UNM) must not have any comfort zones. Consequently, we will continue the struggle, including the parliamentary sessions… The struggle has just begun”, – party chairman Nika Melia told journalists.
On October 31, 2020 the Georgian opposition announced a boycott of the parliament after the elections, considering the results falsified. Six months later, an agreement was signed between the authorities and the opposition to end the political crisis, proposed by European Council President Charles Michel. At the end of April, all opposition MPs who had won parliamentary mandates as a result of the elections returned to parliament, except for members of the UNM and the European Georgia party.
Following the parliamentary elections held in autumn 2020, the UNM received 36 mandates.
