The US State Department has requested $255 million from Congress for fiscal 2022 to provide assistance to Ukraine. This is stated in the budget request of the department.
“US assistance will strengthen Ukraine’s ability to counter Russian aggression. This funding will accelerate the process of reforms to combat corruption, increase transparency and accountability, including by expanding the range of initiatives in the field of e-government, and will contribute to the reform of institutions that is necessary for the European integration of the country”, – the document says.
It also clarifies that part of the US assistance should be spent on improving “the business climate and trade potential of Ukraine, strengthening its agricultural sector, supporting energy security by reforming Naftogaz and increasing its energy efficiency”.
